What Makes JUV Functional
The value in JUV comes from what it does for an animal during a stressor, not from a nutrition panel.
Our CSO, Guillaume Salze, walked through this with Aquafeed.com at AQUAEXPO 2025. The bioactive compounds in JUV, primarily PHB and carotenoids, are what drive the functional benefits we see in survival, stress resilience, gut health, disease resistance, and feeding behavior.
We use aerobic liquid fermentation rather than gas fermentation, which gives us more flexibility in production and makes the process easier to run and scale. Our production facility in China has capacity for several thousand tons a year; we’re currently producing around 250 tons annually, so capacity isn’t what’s limiting us right now, demand is.
The data keeps making the case for us. In a commercial shrimp farm in Thailand, we saw improved cumulative survival across two back-to-back stressors. In a large trout farm in North America, JUV inclusion improved survival by 15 percentage points during the transfer from indoor nursery to outdoor grow-out, and fish resumed feeding on day one post-transfer. In one of those trials, fish developed bacterial cold-water disease requiring medicated feed, and because they never stopped eating, the medicated feed worked better, they recovered faster, and it meaningfully reduced antibiotic use.
